Print Barcode Labels with Embedded Price Based on Weight

Weigh an item on a scale to print a variable barcode label that automatically calculates the total retail price for your POS scanner.
NOTE
This barcode format can also be used with items that use a Unit of Measure of Each and a manually entered quantity for the embedded price. See Print Barcode Labels with Embedded Price by Item Amount
There are two parts required for setup. Once completed, you can print labels on the app:
1. Set Up Item
1. Log in to the portal at www.datecodegenie.com using the recommended browser. See Supported Internet Browser for Portal Access
2. Click the Items tab on the side bar.

3. Click the edit button (pencil icon) for an item or create a new item, see Manage Items

4. Click on Scale Setup tab.

5. Add to the item:
- PLU SLU – Enter a valid PLU for item
- Retail Price Per Unit – Set price per unit
- Unit of Measure – Select Pounds, Kilograms, Ounces, or Grams

6. Click Save Changes.
2. Add Barcode to Printer Profile
1. Click on the Printer Profiles tab on the side bar.

2. Click the edit button (pencil icon) from a Printer Profile to edit, or add new Printer Profile. See Manage Printer Profiles.

3. Scroll down and click Layout Designer.

4. Add the Variable Barcode feature under the Dynamic Field group.

5. Set the Barcode Type to a price barcode using retail price per unit, based on which format is needed for your POS system, see the Variable section on the page Types of Barcodes

6. Click Save Changes.
Print Labels on the App
1. Log in to the app.
2. Tap the item.

3. Select the label type.

4. Add the weighed item to the scale.
5. Tap the print copy box and enter number of labels to print.

6. Tap the print button (printer icon).
The label will print with:
Calculated total price (weight x unit price)
Barcode containing PLU and total price
